The play takes place in Saint Petersburg, in the Filatov family’s apartment. In the cozy dining room, as neighbor Sergey Ivanovich and Motya play chess, the cannon of the Peter and Paul Fortress suddenly fires.
The story follows an actress who played the lead role in a legendary fairy-tale film — a role that defined her destiny and forever changed her life.
